The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin: Readers decide WWE legend was better?

The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin are two of the most iconic WWE Superstars in history.

Between them, the pair have had 16 World title reigns in WWE, and main evented WrestleMania a combined nine times.

In fact, Rock and Austin have closed WWE’s biggest pay-per-view together on two occasions, at WrestleMania XV and WrestleMania X-7 in 1999 and 2001 respectively.

Before returning to the ring this year, Austin had his last match at WrestleMania XIX in 2003 against The Rock.

The pair are clearly two of the best to ever step foot in WWE, and their careers are intertwined, but who was better?

GiveMeSport lead writer Louis Dangoor posed the question to readers on Twitter, asking who they thought was the better of the two in a poll.

And the verdict was… Stone Cold Steve Austin, who received 59.5% of the 220 votes that were cast, as you can see below.

With regards to why they picked Stone Cold, one voter cited Austin’s drawing power during the Monday Night Wars, questioning if WWE would have beaten WCW without Austin.

Another noted that Austin’s work within WWE transcended into the mainstream, which was key for the company, and used this to suggest that he was better than The Rock.

Another Stone Cold-voter said that despite breaking his neck in 1997, Austin was able to reinvent himself and have “the greatest run in history”, which you can see and read more about below.

Stone Cold, come up
