The Ridvan Yilmaz Rangers X-factor revealed as 'versatility' can be Gio van Bronckhorst's secret weapon

Gio van Bronckhorst reckons Ridvan Yilmaz 's "versatility" can be the secret weapon that makes him a smash-hit at Rangers.

The 21-year-old arrived from Besiktas earlier this week for an initial £3.4million that could rise to move than £5m with add-ons. He pens a five-year deal at Ibrox and arrives as a partial replacement for Calvin Bassey, with Ben Davies also boosting Van Bronckhorst 's defensive ranks.

Known for his running power and creativity going forward, Yilmaz will look to unseat Borna Barisic from the starting XI, and Van Bronckhorst reckons he has a chance of doing just that. The Dutchman, speaking to Rangers TV, reckons he has plenty of tricks in his locker that will quickly endear him to the Gers faithful. He said: "He's a very versatile left-back in the qualities he has going forward, his passing, his movement. I'm really happy we could add him to the squad.

"With Calvin Bassey leaving, we only had one left-back in our squad with Borna. Now we have two, so I'm really happy with this signing."

Rangers have also added Davies, Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Malik Tillman and Tom Lawrence as well as bringing in John Souttar on a pre-contract from Hearts. It's been a busy window and Van Bronckhorst insists the new men are settling in well.

"They've gelled really well," he went on. "They are joining a big club and everyone is making them feel welcome but they all realise it's all about winning at this club.

"That's what they have to do from the first game. We're going to help them get used to the new club and the standards we want. So far it's going really well."
