The replies when the Bills selected Josh Allen in 2018 look hilarious now

Buffalo Bills fans will still be pinching themselves that they have a franchise quarterback in Josh Allen.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the finest young quarterbacks in the NFL, and the Bills made their feelings about Allen known by tying him down to a long-term deal last August.

Allen was unable to lead the Bills to the Super Bowl last season but the AFC East franchise are a powerhouse now and will be in the mix for years to come.

The 2022 NFL Draft is drawing ever closer, and there will be plenty of fans that are eagerly anticipating who they are going to pick up that could turn their franchise around and make them contenders. 

There will be plenty of them who have watched the players during their college days, or maybe watched their Combine and Pro Day performances and scouted out exactly who they believe will be ‘the guy’, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the team to pick the player rather than the fans.

And perhaps there is no better example that fans can often be wrong with their assessment of things than the 2018 NFL Draft, and the Bills’ decision to draft Allen out of the University of Wyoming.

There were a number of quarterbacks to choose from that year, with Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Lamar Jackson all chosen in the first round along with Allen, but with the first two already off the board when it came time for the Bills to pick at seven, they were left with a couple of options, and eventually settled on Allen.
