The Quarry: Game director reveals immense amount of potential endings

The Quarry is the upcoming release from Supermassive Games, and it is perhaps going to be one of the biggest releases across the next few months.

There is a shortage of AAA games that are coming out but The Quarry is set to release on June 10th, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam.

Supermassive Games have released a very specific style of game in recent years, with Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology both tasking players with making tough decisions that affect the game’s narrative.

The Quarry is set to be similar, and you will either be attempting to keep everyone alive, or see if you can send everyone to a grisly death.

The game’s trailer hints at a real 90s horror vibe and the cast is incredible, with the likes of David Arquette, Lance Henriksen, Lin Shaye, and Skyler Gisondo all set to appear in the game.

You’ll be able to play as all nine of the game’s characters as they attempt to navigate a horror-filled night in the quarry, as their plans for a party go wrong, with deadly consequences.

And the game’s director has now revealed that the game has a staggering number of potential endings: 186.

Speaking to IGN, Will Byles revealed that to make a game with so many endings is an incredibly complex process.

He said: “We write it like a movie screenplay… actors are used to a 100-page script [on a feature film], the script for this is over 1000 pages. [The actors] can get very alarmed.

“We have to shoot 50 pages a day, which is unheard of. It’s a mad amount of footage.”

That includes actors potentially rewinding to the start of scenes and then altering their dialogue so you can head down a different path.

He added: “We worked out 186 different endings for those characters, not just alive
