The prison where Lucy Letby is jailed - and the vile child killers she shares it with

Killer Lucy Letby is locked up with several other vile child murderers at HMP New Hall in Yorkshire.

Letby was sentenced to a whole life order last month after being convicted of murdering seven babies and the attempted murder of six others at the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2015 and 2016. She is now locked up at the prison in Flockton in Kirklees, which has been - and is still - home for some of the most dangerous female criminals in the UK, YorkshireLive reports.

Some of the most notorious female criminals in British history have found themselves interred there, including Rosemary West. The prison can hold up to 381 women - there were 314 held there at the time of the latest inspection in 2022.

The inspection found 13 areas of concern including too many security measures and an inconsistent daily regime. New Hall has a segregation unit with 12 cells as well as a unit for up to 12 prisoners with complex issues.

There is also Rivendell House which has 30 ensuite rooms for women with personality disorders and other selected prisoners. There are three main wings.

Rose West has been held at HMP New Hall since 2019. She is one of the most notorious serial killers in British history.

Found guilty of the murder of at least nine young women between 1973 and 1987, as well as murdering her stepdaughter in 1971, she was sentenced to life in prison. West has been jailed since 1995.

She is known to have sexually abused,
