The pretty North Wales village that Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has made his home

A sleepy village in North Wales isn't where you’d expect Hollywood A-listers to buy houses. Yet the actor Ryan Reynolds has reportedly bought a £1.5 million home in the quaint village of Marford, five miles north of Wrexham.

The Deadpool star set his sights on the Welsh village after he bought Wrexham FC with fellow actor Rob McElhenney in 2020. Marford is just a short drive away from Wrexham’s Racehorse Ground, providing a handy base to visit his football club from.

It's a world away from New York, where Ryan usually lives with his wife Blake Lively and their four children. Instead of skyscrapers, subways and bustling streets, Ryan can expect a much slower pace of life in this quiet corner of North Wales.

The village has just two pubs, The Trevor Arms which is found at the bottom of Marford Hill, and The Red Lion at the top of the hill. In terms of shops there’s just a Co-op, with residents heading to nearby Gresford should they need anything else.

In fact North Wales Live reports that residents have even speculated in the local Facebook group whether Ryan would prefer to shop in the Co-op, or head to the Spar in Gresford. According to the site the village is one of the most expensive areas to live in in the region.

Located in the county of Clwyd, the village has historically been both in England and Wales. Today it's known for its beautiful gothic revival cottages, which were built as part of the former Trevalyn Hall estate at the turn of the 18th century.
