The Philadelphia Eagles had a bizarre method to help beat the heat v the Cowboys in 2000

Then Philadelphia Eagles had a great way to beat the heat back in 2000 when they took on the Dallas Cowboys, although it might not quite be up your alley.

As you may or may not be aware, depending on which country you are reading this from, but the United Kingdom is set to experience record-setting levels of heat over the coming days, with temperatures set to reach 41c (105f) or more in some part of the country.

And whilst there are plenty of tips for how you might want to stay cool during this, just be thankful that all you have to do is sit at your desk and work, perhaps with some air conditioning going or with the help of a desk fan and a cold drink.

Because you are getting it an awful lot easier than what the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys had to do in the opening week of the 2000 NFL season, and that was playing a football game with the temperature reaching 105f when the game kicked off.

The NFL does more or less have a policy that regardless of what the weather will be like on gameday, barring something biblical or if there is any form of lightning in the area, the game is going to be played. And with the league spreading far and wide across the USA, it does mean that players can be susceptible to pretty much any kind of weather during the season.

This has resulted in such ludicrous moments as the LeSean McCoy snow game where he rushed for 217 yards:
