Broncos, 49ers, Cowboys: The NFL's top-ten highest valued franchises revealed

The Dallas Cowboys have been valued as the most expensive franchise in the National Football League following a valuation from Sportico.

When you look at the money that goes around the NFL, it’s no surprise to see that there are some pretty high valuations associated with them. Whether it be the mega-contracts that are handed out to their star players, or the number of people that can fit into their giant stadiums, it is certainly a league that won’t do things in small measures.

And as the league expands further, bringing in more revenue stream to be split among the franchises and as the money that teams make get larger and larger, then so will the valuation of those teams, something that will make owners very happy if they look to move their franchise on to the next interested party.

You just need to look at the most recent sale that happened for an NFL team, as the Denver Broncos were sold for a reported $4.65bn, a far cry from the early days of the league where it cost a mere $100 in order to start a franchise. Even the Houston Texans only cost $700m when they joined around the turn of the millennium.

Figures from Sportico have revealed a number of interesting facts surrounding the values of NFL franchises, as they claim that “the average NFL franchise is worth $4.14 billion, up 18% over last year” using figures taken from “interviews with more than 30 bankers, lawyers, team executives, owners and consultants involved in the sport, as well as public documents.”

But just who comes out on top? They have complied their list of all 32 teams in the league to see which team comes out on top, but we’re going to give you just the top ten (check them out to see the full list):

10 – Denver Broncos, $4.65bn

9 – Philadelphia
