The old water tower in the middle of nowhere that could be transformed into a three-bed house

Developers are planning to convert a disused water tower into a stunning three-bedroom house with an extension. The anonymous owner of Bilbrough Water Tower in York has submitted plans for its transformation, including the addition of a wooden, log cabin-style extension.

The concrete structure was auctioned off last year for £50,000. Now, plans have been put forward to City of York Council to construct a bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchen in a single-storey extension.

This would connect to a bedroom on the ground floor of the tower, with another bedroom planned for the second floor.

Architectural Services York, who submitted the plans, also propose a double driveway at the front of the property with additional parking spaces on site.

The plans highlight good access to local facilities, the nearby A64, and public transport links. Site photos suggest future occupants will likely enjoy good mobile phone signal due to proximity to a telephone mast.

The proposal is currently under review, with a consultation set for September 19.
