The new Manchester restaurants, bars and bakeries opening February 2025
There's no denying that it's been a tough start to the year for hospitality. In January, a number of dining spots closed their doors as businesses continued to grapple with steep energy costs, price increases on ingredients and the continuing cost of living crisis.
Here in Greater Manchester, we said goodbye to more than 10 venues, including big names like Almost Famous and the Botanist, as well as community favourites like Crowded House in Bury, Damhouse Tea room in Astley and Off the Wheaten Track in Altrincham, amongst others.
Whilst it remains a precarious time, especially with a series of tax hikes coming into effect in April following the Chancellor's Autumn Budget, there sector remains resilient and undeterred. This means in February there's a plethora of big ticket openings including hit Leeds bakery Get Baked, the unveiling on The Trafford Centre's new food court and another Irish bar in the city centre.
One of the most anticipated openings of 2025 for those who love nothing more than a giant slab of oozing chocolate cake. Viral bakery, Get Baked, has been making waves since opening on the other side of the Pennines and this February they'll finally be opening their own takeaway bakery spot in the Northern Quarter.
People travel from across the UK to visit the original Get Baked in Headingley, where the now 'retired' viral 'Bruce' cake was first made. The towering 12 chocolate layered cake set social media alight after its launch in 2021 but was recently replaced by 'Bertha' which comes with a sweeter ganache filling. The new Manchester site will take over a corner unit overlooking Stevenson Square, will be operating late opening hours, and will be available on Deliveroo.
