The mum-of-two who fooled Manchester

A Kate Moss lookalike who caused a social media storm after posing as the supermodel on the day of Chanel's Manchester fashion show has spoken of her life as a professional doppelganger.

Denise Ohnona caused a commotion in Manchester last week after she was spotted in Aldi and sat outside a coffee shop on the day of Chanel's Métiers d’Art show. The 43-year-old makes a living from impersonating Moss, including in Duran Duran's 40th anniversary music video.

But Denise hasn't always had such confidence. Speaking to the Echo, she said a car crash with a double-decker bus when she was just 18 left her with scars on her face that she compared to twisted horror villain Freddy Kreuger.

She said: "I had a face that looked like Nightmare On Elm Street. It was all torn apart. Children used to see me and cry, young people called me Scarface and were really mean to me. So I always thought there was no way. Even 20 years later, I still saw my face with the scars, even though people said they could hardly notice them any more. I hated having my photograph taken. That's why I always shut it down.

"One day I was just like, I'm not going to say no any more, I'm going to say yes. Then I realised the scars weren't going to be an issue."

The mum-of-two, who lives in Ormskirk, began working full-time as a Kate Moss lookalike when she was 37, after a family member secretly sent her picture and contact details to Lookalikes Talent Agency, run by David Beckham double Andy Harmer.
