The moment Jimmy Thelin diffuses Rangers tirade from Philippe Clement as Aberdeen boss rises above Pittodrie powderkeg

It was a heated atmosphere inside Pittodrie as Aberdeen battled to a victory over Rangers.

But even inside the cauldron Jimmy Thelin and Philippe Clement took time for a laugh and a handshake with tensions escalating on the park. The Dons left Rangers trailing by nine points after Shayden Morris came off the bench to net the winner and pile the pressure on the man in the Belgian boss.

After Nicky Devlin gave the home side the lead in the Granite City pressure was ramping up on under-fire Belgian boss. The boss would thrown his hands up in protest to referee John Beaton after scorer Devlin played the ball back to his goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov - claiming the defender had inadvertently passed the ball back to the Bulgarian shot-stopper as he collected the ball to restart the Aberdeen attack. The man in the middle would wave away the claim from the touchline.

However, Clement would continue continue his protest on the touchline to the fourth official - before catching the eye of Thelin. The Swede would share a laugh with the boss and shake hands for a bit of calm amid the storm.
