The moment Gio's Rangers fury boils over as eye in the sky camera catches Celtic goal contempt

There's not much consoling when you're team are outclassed against their biggest rivals but Gio Van Bronckhorst was honest in his assessment of his side's failings.

The Dutchman's thrilling exploits in Europe underline his managerial credentials, however, he isn't short of problems to seek after a second trouncing at the home of their rivals within seven months. Celtic wreaked havoc from first minute to last and Rangers had no answers for the lightning-quick style implemented by Ange Postecoglou's Premiership champions.

The 4-0 battering was the headline, of course, but there was an underlying theme spotted by punters and pundits that Rangers were unable to move as quickly, in body and mind, as Celtic. Ally McCoist pressed home the point for every goal, as he felt they could be traced back to Celtic being quicker on the draw than the Europa League finalists. And an aerial view of Jota's stunning lob wedge finish drives home the fact van Bronckhorst was acutely aware of the fatal flaw undoing his side in Glasgow's east end.

The former Feyenoord boss can be seen remonstrating with a trio of Rangers players – Glen Kamara, John Lundstram and Ryan Kent to get back and pick up Matt O'Riley. The trio were drawn to the ball and paid little attention to the creative force lurking in behind them.

If Van Bronckhorst was peeved before the ball was played then he was beside himself after Callum McGregor released the Danish U21 international. The image of the 47-year-old nearly collapsing with his head in his hands is not something supporters have been accustomed to – it was a rare show of emotion for the normally unflappable boss.

And he was right to worry, as O'Riley expertly picked out Jota who did the rest to make it 2-0.
