The Masters hit by DELAY as weather holds up day one schedule with organisers 'monitoring closely'

The Masters is the biggest show in town this weekend - but it will get off to a delayed start.

The Augusta tournament is set to get underway today with the first group heading out to the tee at 1pm UK time however, due to the weather, that has been pushed back by at least an hour with Erik van Rooyen and Jake Knapp due to get the action underway. The delay means the full card will face being pushed back. Gate openings for punters to get in and watch the action have also been pushed back until 'further notice'.

An official communication reads: "We continue to monitor the weather closely. Gate openings and tee times have been delayed until further notice. The first round will not begin before 9am (Eastern time)." It means the action isn't likely to start until around 2pm in the UK at the earliest.
