The magical Lake District woodland walk where you can see hundreds of snowdrops

Snowdrops are among the first blooms of the season as nature slowly awakens again. One of the best places to see them is at the National Trust site Acorn Bank, just outside Penrith on the doorstep of the Lake District.

Each weekend will also include a programme of family fun, talks and crafts. There’ll be talks on red squirrels ( February 23 and March 9), block printing, windowsill salad seed sowing and den building. Plus, on February 15, there’s the chance to join a nature connection walk or a meditation session with Wild Soul.

Snowdrop weekends are free for National Trust members, but tickets for the garden and estate start from £5.50 for children and £11 for
