The Jetty viewers gobsmacked over 'most unexpected' twist in explosive BBC show finale

The Jetty viewers were left with their mouths on the floor over the finale’s “unexpected” twist.

The BBC drama came to a dramatic end on Saturday (July 22). Starring Jenna Coleman as Detective Ember Manning, the four-part-series has been a hit with fans.

The show kicked off with Detective Ember Manning, investigating a fire at a boathouse. A bone belonging to Amy Knightly (Bo Bragason), a girl who vanished 17 years ago, was found in the fire.

Trying to unravel the truth, Ember initially suspected her late husband Mack (Tom Glynn-Carney) was secretly involved with Amy. A flashback revealed that Mack was planning to break up with Amy. Amid their argument, his half-brother Joe (Ryan Dean) drove away in his car.

Ember and Arj (Matthew McNulty) meanwhile were getting high in a pub until Mack rang his wife, asking for her to pick him up. During the drive, Ember was behind the wheel and accidentally hit Amy who ran into the car.

However, Mack lied and said that she hit a log. To try and protect her, Mack convinced Arj, who was still high on drugs, that he was the one driving instead. He then told him he needed his help to find Amy's body and bury her under the boathouse.

In the 17 years since Amy’s death, Arj believed he was the one responsible. Worried Amy's body would be discovered after the house’s new owners started renovations, Arj set fire to the boathouse.

Then, one of Amy's bones was destroyed, causing the investigation to be opened. Podcaster Riz, who was investigating Amy's murder, found the bone and got a private investigator to take a picture of it before Ember took it off her. Arj was aware she had this snap and stole her laptop which Riz was able to track to the boathouse.

However, an audio recording from her
