The incredible six-year-old taking on 12 challenges in 12 months for her sister

A courageous six-year-old is set to take on a series of difficult challenges using a raft to raise money for her sister whom she never met.

Olivia Hallen, from Swinton, will take on a triathlon, a two-mile bike ride, a two-mile walk, a litter pick, a reading challenge, a bake sale, a sponsored bounce and a football shoot-out.

The goal of the challenges is to raise money for Derian House Children’s Hospice, the place where Aimee-Leigh, Olivia Hallen's sister died after a brave battle with a brain tumour, aged two.

Olivia will be doing the challenges with her best friend, Isabella Willis from Walkden with the pair aiming to complete 12 challenges in 12 months.

Olivia and Isabella have already completed a few challenges that consisted of a 2.5km obstacle course, a Lidl Mudder endurance course and a 100m swimming challenge.

Olivia said: “We wanted to do it for my sister Aimee-Leigh and for children like her. She is 10 now in heaven. I’m looking forward to the football shootout because I like football.”

The pair took on their first challenge, the Lidl Mudder, a junior version of the famous Tough Mudder on July 15. Olivia and Isabelle represented Derian Hospice by wearing T-shirts representing the group.

Isabella said: “We got all muddy. I jumped in a big muddy puddle and got mud on my face. Mummy had to clean it off. I get happy on every single challenge and I want to do it for Aimee-Leigh.”

Olivia’s mum, Emma Hallen said: “I feel emotional but incredibly proud of Olivia and Isabella for doing this for Aimee-Leigh. They are both very energetic kids. They are always giving and thinking of other people all the time.”
