The Greater Manchester park that’s an ‘excellent family day out’ this summer

Keeping kids busy during the summer holidays can be a tricky task for parents and guardians, but luckily we’ve been blessed with pretty decent weather so far which makes things a little easier. One way to spend a sunny day is with a visit to a local park - and there’s lots to choose from across Greater Manchester.

Among the most top-rated green spaces in Queen’s Park in Heywood, which is a firm favourite among families. The Green Flag-winning park has a range of features which kids of all ages will love from a play area specifically for toddlers to a BMX track where teenagers can channel their inner Olympian.

There's even a miniature train which takes you on rides through the park. Budding performers can have a go on the rainbow stage and there are tennis courts too.

At the heart of the park is a picturesque boating lake where you can see a variety of birds gliding across the water. With the Olympics on our TV screens at the moment, you can even embrace this year’s summer of sport with a spot of tennis or give the outdoor gym equipment a go.
