The Greater Manchester garden with ‘magnificent autumn colours’ perfect for a walk

The clocks have gone back and it feels like winter is creeping upon us. But there are still a few more weeks of autumn left, which means making the most of what nature has to offer at this time of the year.

While Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens and Park in Didsbury is known for its beautiful blooms in spring and summer, it’s equally stunning at autumn time when it’s transformed with fiery displays of red and orange leaves. In fact, some argue that it’s one of the best times to visit the gardens.

Tucked between the southern end of Didsbury and the River Mersey, Fletcher Moss is split into two areas. There’s the botanical gardens, which features a beautiful rockery, pond, tiny waterfall and a huge variety of shrubs and trees.

Then the gardens give way to the park itself, where you’ll find a rose garden, grassy areas and a woodland walk which leads you to the River Mersey. The beauty of Fletcher Moss is you can make your walk as long or as short as you want, but wherever you go you’ll be rewarded with stunning autumn colours.
