The full Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend schedule - when does the race start?

The Formula 1 2022 season is underway with the first race taking place in Bahrain last weekend at the Sakhir circuit, and race two in Saudi Arabia is already on the way this weekend!

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix only joined the calendar last season but certainly arrived with a bang, coming as the penultimate race of a thrilling 2021 campaign.

Its fast, free-flowing nature through the streets of Jeddah provided a test for the drivers back in December, with a few big crashes and some even raising concerns over the safety of the circuit.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will remember it well, meanwhile, for a number of flashpoints over the course of the race – the biggest of which saw Hamilton run into the back of Verstappen with the Dutchman trying to cleverly let the Briton through before the DRS zone, after fears he was going to get a penalty if he did not give Lewis the position.

Recapping Saudi 2021 fully is for another time, though, and here we’re focused solely on the schedule for the 2022 edition, which is as follows:

Friday

On Friday, we have the usual two practice sessions, with both taking place in the afternoon UK time, and getting towards the evening in Saudi.

The first will take place at 2pm UK time and the second will take place at 5pm UK time, with Saudi three hours ahead of us.

Saturday

Saturday sees another practice session followed by qualifying, and Charles Leclerc will be looking to earn another pole position for Ferrari – as he did in Bahrain.

FP3 begins at 2pm UK time whilst qualifying is at 5pm UK time and the session lasts for an hour.

Sunday

The first race of the season gets underway at 6pm UK time, with 50 laps of the Jeddah circuit scheduled.
