Paul Ince issues injury update on Reading FC duo
Interim Reading manager Paul Ince is hopeful that Andy Rinomhota’s injury issue is nothing serious after being withdrawn against Blackburn Rovers this past weekend.
Rinomhota has already missed a large portion of the season with an ankle problem, one which kept the 24-year-old out for the best part of four months.
Having returned in the 7-0 drubbing by Fulham in January, Rinomhota has featured in every league encounter since, but he lasted just 32 minutes against Tony Mowbray’s side on Saturday afternoon after sustaining a blow to the knee.
Ince has said, via BerkshireLive, that he hopes that Rinomhota’s injury isn’t as bad as the club think it may be – but there is more positive news on Yakou Meite’s problem.
The Ivorian, who himself has just returned from a long lay-off due to a cruciate ligament injury, came on as a late substitution at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in the 1-0 win, but he suffered multiple blows from tackles which saw him struggle before the final whistle.
Ince though has labelled Meite as ‘fine’ following what appeared to be a painful looking injury and he should be fine for the Royals’ post-international break clash with Barnsley.
The Verdict
Reading have only just started to get players back to fitness, with their substitutes bench in the weeks beforehand looking more like an under-23’s line-up.
So if their squad now starts to drop like flies then it puts them in a real disadvantage in the upcoming relegation battle – especially with a huge game against Barnsley coming up.
Rinomhota is an important player for the Royals as he’s one of the individuals that breaks up play, so if he is missing for matches following the international break then it’ll be a real blow.
Meite as well is yet to get fully
