The five areas of Greater Manchester where house prices are more expensive than London

London is notorious for its sky-high house prices, constantly topping the charts as the most expensive place to live in the UK. But as the north-south divide appears to be narrowing in the property sector, some parts of Greater Manchester are now proving to be just as pricey as the capital.

The average sold price for a property in London in the last 12 months was £694,731, with properties such as detached homes selling for an average of £1,274,365. Our exclusive analysis of the latest Land Registry data has now revealed that there are five parts of our region where the average house costs more to buy than in London.

Greater Manchester's most expensive places to live are all in Trafford, well known as the areas where you're most likely to see dream, multi-million pound properties go up for sale - as well as being home to celebrities or footballers.

Here are the five most expensive parts of the region where the average house price is higher than London:

Hale Barns has the highest house prices out of all the areas of Greater Manchester, and with its average sold price for a property in at £1,033,751, it's more expensive than London's average.

The majority of sales in the village during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £1,095,375. Prices over the 12 months were down 12 percent on the previous year, and up 10 percent on the 2021 peak of £926,047.

This modern family home is currently one of the most expensive homes up for grabs in the area, on the market for £3,850,000. The huge house sits in just under half an acre of land and boasts seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and four reception
