The female-run café where you would be hard pressed to find better prices

Grabbing a bite to eat or having a coffee in town is seen as a luxury treat for many these days, but one trendy café in the Northern Quarter has made it their mission to not outprice customers. Nibble NQ is a female-run caff on Oldham Street that serves up delicious food and tasty treats at more than reasonable prices - especially considering its in the heart of the city centre.

The colourful coffee shop, which was set up in 2017 by Lauren Irlam at just 27, is a “female friendly” space where all are welcome. When you walk inside the doors, the walls are chocked full with inspirational photos as well as beautiful decor.

Having celebrated the shop’s sixth birthday in July, Lauren said she initially set up her small business so she could create her own positive working environment. Lauren, who studied nutrition in uni, spent many years climbing the ladder of hospitality, so naturally her end goal was to set up shop herself.

“I worked in hospitality and managed places for other people, it was always my goal to have a place of my own at some stage. I studied nutrition at uni also but I didn't want to work on the clinical side of that, I wanted to work on the fun side of food,” she said.

“I initially wanted to create a space that was better for me to work in personally, and it became very much female-run due to the people who came to work here. From then on it’s something we stuck with and it’s something customers, male and female, seem to really like.
