The faces of 25 people police want to speak to after Man City celebrations turn violent in Piccadilly Gardens
Police have issued images of 25 people they wish to speak to in connection with disorder in Piccadilly Gardens after Manchester City's Champions League victory last month. A police car was smashed, a police laptop stolen, a bus stop vandalised, and bottles thrown at police during the trouble.
GMP say while the majority of fans celebrated the Blues historic treble after the 1-0 defeat of Inter Milan respectfully others gathered in Piccadilly Gardens after the final on June 10th and serious damage was caused. The force has now released images of people "who they believe could help with their ongoing enquiries."
Inspector Phil Marsh, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “Last month marked a historic night in our city’s sporting history and I do not want to allow the disorder to detract from this momentous occasion.
“However, this sort of behaviour is totally unacceptable. The majority of people behaved respectfully and peacefully, but a number of people who attended the celebrations in Piccadilly Gardens took part in disorder which resulted in a heavily damaged police car and the damage of other police property.
"We will never tolerate this sort of behaviour and we have been working hard to identify those responsible, with our officers combing through hours of bodycam and CCTV footage.
“If you have information that could help with our investigation, please do get in touch with our officers. We are determined to keep the streets of Greater Manchester a safe and welcoming place for all.”
The individual photos of the 25 people can be viewed here, while compilation images are attached.
