The eyes of millions turned to Manchester for star-studded MTV EMAs - and we didn't disappoint
Descending from the rafters, American singer-songwriter Benson Boone arrived on stage at the seat of a levitating piano decked out in a white rhinestone jumpsuit.
It was rather fitting for the occasion at hand. After all, it’s not every day that MTV is in town.
This week Manchester has been taken over by an influx of music superstars and celebrities for the annual MTV EMAs. One of the largest TV broadcasts across Europe, it’s a rather special one this time as it marks 30 years since the show began.

Hosted by Rita Ora - returning for a third time - the night promised performances from the likes of Benson, Raye, Pet Shop Boys, Le Sserafim and Shawn Mendes - and it didn’t disappoint with high octane stunts, high-tech pyrotechnics and some truly show-stopping vocals.
On the red carpet, A-listers from across the world strutted out in quick succession.
To the sound of 200 cheering music fans, the likes of Shawn Mendes, presenter Rita Ora, Grammy-nominated Raye and a host of other stars graced the Co-op Live arena for the huge awards night.
There were some surprises - with comical brothers Jedward seen making fans howl with laughter in their glittery silver outfits that they likened to Christmas tree decorations. The pair did have a brief moment to talk about the loss of Liam Payne, saying that there would be 'a lot of tears' in the venue ahead of a planned tribute to the One Direction star.
As camera lights flashed, newbie to the scene and one to watch Elliot James Reay, from Bury, who shot to fame on social media with his solo single 'I Think They Call This Love', spoke to the M.E.N about staying humble
