The contract decisions Hull FC must make as May 1 approaches

It’s going to be a busy few weeks for the hierarchy as they continue planning for next year and beyond. The Black and Whites have a host of players in the final year of their deals and the club must inform them of their intentions before the May 1 deadline, after which they will be free to talk to other clubs.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the off-contract players Hull must make a decision on.

This one appears to be a fairly straightforward decision for the likes of Brett Hodgson, James Clark and Adam Pearson to make. The Fijian only signed a one-year deal when he joined from South Sydney Rabbitohs in the off-season but they will almost certainly be looking to extend that after an impressive start to the year.

Lovodua has showcased his versatility and skill over the first couple of months of the season and he’s already a crowd favourite.

The hooker signed a three-year deal when he joined the club from Widnes Vikings ahead of the 2020 campaign and although his future looked unclear over the off-season, he is now in the final year of his contract. He’s done well so far this season, coming off the bench regularly and playing a key role.

The club will be thinking long and hard about his future.

The youngster was given a one-year deal last year with the option of a further 12 months should he impress. He’s been in and out of the side this season, but he has caught the eye on occasion, scoring a hat-trick in the Challenge Cup win over Sheffield Eagles.

The forward was another who looked to have an uncertain future over the off-season after being offered to other clubs. Hodgson has regularly singled him out for praise this season, though, despite making just three league appearances.
