The common item in your fridge that removes tea and coffee cup stains from wood

Any tea or coffee drinkers will know the consequence of putting their hot drink down on a surface without a coaster. You're often left with a ring around your cup that can stain most tables and furniture, particularly wood.

It's a common problem that many people face on a day to day basis and it turns out there's a really simple and cheap solution, which was shared in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group. The group was created by fans of Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, and is full of homeowners sharing their own cleaning tips and tricks to help others.

Mrs Hinch rose to fame after sharing her clever and cheap hacks for common problems around the home. The cleaning guru now has more than 4 million followers on Instagram, big brand deals and is the author of many books.

One woman posted in the cleaning group, which has more than 77,000 members, asking for advice on removing cup stains from wood. Group member La Ros shared a picture of her wooden TV stand which had been stained with cup marks asking if anyone knows a way to get the stains out, reports Wales Online.

Mrs Hinch fans were quick to offer their solutions to the problem, with the most popular hack being both cheap and surprising. Dozens of people commented suggesting to use mayonnaise to get rid of the stains.

The advised method is as follows:

After being made aware of the mayonnaise solution, the original author of the post updated the group to tell them that it worked. She added: "Just rubbed it on with a dry cloth, worked great."

Other members of the group also suggested other methods including Wood Silk and walnuts.
