When does the Masters 2022 golf start? Dates, field, odds and how to watch on TV

When the Masters begins at Augusta National this week it will mark the start of a year of thrilling majors for fans to enjoy.

There are some new names on the scene with 25-year-old American Scottie Scheffler storming to World Number One in recent months due to three PGA tour wins in 2022 alone.

However, despite such an exciting young star coming onto the scene, it is an old name whose presence will be the most talked about entry at Augusta this year.

Tiger Woods looks to have made a recovery from the car crash that could have ended his career in 2021 and is in Georgia hoping to challenge for the Green Jacket he last won in 2019, eleven years after his last major triumph.

Hideki Matsuyama will be hoping to retain the Green Jacket after finishing -10 at the 2021 tournament to claim his first major title. British stars such as Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Paul Casey and Lee Westwood will all be in attendance along with Ireland's Rory McIlroy while Ian Poulter failed to qualify.

The tournament starts on Thursday April 7th, running until Sunday April 10th and comes from Augusta, Georgia in the United States.

As ever, the favourites list is dominated by US stars but there are some European names in the mix with Spain's Jon Rahm heading up the betting field.

Rory McIlroy is a strong contender at 18/1 while Tiger Woods is currently 50/1 along with Southport's Tommy Fleetwood.
