The college in the shadow of the Etihad Stadium that has produced two Man City stars

The regeneration of Eastlands since Manchester City's arrival at the City of Manchester Stadium in 2003 has been well-publicised.

An area of mostly wasteland has been transformed over two decades, along with City's fortunes on the pitch, with the latest Etihad Stadium expansion set to take capacity to over 60,000 along with the building of a new hotel, while the opening of the new Co-op Live arena later this year will also continue local growth. Across the road, the state-of-the-art Etihad Campus homes City's training ground and academy, bringing the area alive step-by-step over the last 20 years.

Since 2013, the Connell Co-op College has added to that sense of community and has this month celebrated their 10-year anniversary. After City donated 5.5 acres of land for the college to be constructed, the college has continued a fruitful relationship with the club and the Blues academy.

Opened in 2013, the college became one of the first schools in East Manchester to offer A-Levels and has helped thousands of pupils in the area over 10 years, with 80 per cent of students going on to attend university.

Two students - Tosin Adarabioyo and Esme Morgan - took a different route, coming through the City academy and going on to represent the club at first-team level. Tosin made eight appearances for the men's senior team, as well as having two productive loan spells away, before leaving for Fulham in 2020 where he has featured over 100 times - more than 50 of his appearances coming in the Premier League.

Morgan is an England international who was part of the Lionesses
