The Celtic transfer business fans should expect next and does Ange really need sexy signings now?

These are strange times at Celtic. There’s no screaming from the rooftops about new signings required, no star players constantly linked with moves away, and the Hoops are even set to start the season with some centre halves.

Ange Postecoglou doesn’t hang about and he’s already added four new faces and secured three more familiar ones on permanent deals. But punters are like weans on Christmas morning. They unwrap one prezzie and they are immediately looking for what’s next.

So what is next for Celtic? Has Postecoglou finished his business for the summer with six weeks to spare? Unlikely. There will be more coming in but it might be others heading in the other direction first. Taxis have surely been booked for Albian Ajeti and Christopher Jullien to make some room for a few more additions. But it’s a tricky one for Postecoglou right now. It’s not like he’s looking for first team replacements.

He’s already brought in an entirely new team, so it’s back up and guys to challenge for starts he’s in the market for now. Fans are looking for some kind of midfield muscle – a monster who can give the side a bit of bite going in to the Champions League. But the manager seems less interested. It’s understandable. Is he going to spend north of £5m for an established anchorman when he already has Callum McGregor in that deep lying midfield role?

No chance. There’s no doubt the boss would also like to add another striker, but how much would it cost to oust Kyogo or Giorgos Giakoumakis from the starting line up? Plenty is the suspicion. It means Postecoglou will probably look for a rough diamond somewhere to polish up and use when needed.
