The big developments that could transform Salford

Three big developments set to transform parts of Salford could be approved next week.

A new high rise tower block complete with a café and cinema room and affordable mid-rise apartments are among the plans developers hope to start if given the green light by Salford council. The developments could see the continuation of a recent building boom on and around Chapel Street.

All three will be considered at the council's planning and transportation regulatory meeting next Thursday (July 20).

The flats will also be built with 125 bicycle spaces.

On nearby Peru Street, in a currently vacant car park, the English Cities Fund hope to deliver 100 affordable apartments as part of its £2.5bn Salford Crescent masterplan.

The Salford Crescent masterplan is a collaboration between the University of Salford and the council aimed at creating a 'successful and vibrant new city district'. The plan hopes to build 2.4m sq ft of research and industry space, a 165,000 sq ft hotel, 145,000 sq ft of retail, and more than
