'The better team' - Pundits cannot agree on Everton vs Wolves question

The pundits are all predicting different outcomes when it comes to Wolverhampton Wanderer's Premier League clash with Everton.

Wolves take on Frank Lampard's struggling Toffees at Goodison Park on Sunday (2pm kick-off) as they look to maintain their push for European qualification.

Bruno Lage's men got back to winning ways in emphatic style on Thursday night, beating Watford 4-0 at Molineux to end a run of three straight defeats.

Everton have lost their previous three league fixtures - including a 5-0 drubbing at Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson is backing Everton to halt their losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Wolves.

"This is another game where the crowd are going to play a massive part - if the home fans can get Goodison Park rocking like we know it can be, then of course it will spur the Everton players on," Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

"They will need all the help they can get, too. I think Frank Lampard's side will win but it will be a nervy afternoon for them because of their problems at the back.

"It doesn't matter what kind of performance Everton produce, they just need a win. They are not getting dragged into the relegation mix - they are already part of it."

Former Arsenal and Aston Villa ace Paul Merson disagrees with Lawrenson, and has predicted a 2-1 win for Wolves.

"Everton have to win this game," Merson told Sportskeeda. "They have Wolves and Newcastle at home coming up, and they need at least four points from these two games.

"I don’t see how Everton are going to get that big Premier League result this season.

"The thing with Wolves again is that you don’t know what team you’re going to play.

"Every team will be looking at Ruben Neves now – he’s a proper player.
