The best fabric to wear for those 'struggling to pick an outfit in this weather'

We are now bang in the middle of summer, yet people seem to be asking themselves the same question - how are we supposed to dress in this weather?

If you looked out the window, you wouldn't know what season we're in due to the ever changing conditions.

Thunderstorms one minute, heatwaves the next, it’s nearly impossible to dress for this unpredictable weather. The most common answer to this predicament seems to be wearing light to medium layers on top that can be whipped off when the humidity kicks in, while underneath wearing a short sleeve top, vest or cami.

Cargos, trousers and trackies are still a major go to for many, with the exception of a few who are sporting skirts and shorts, determined to embrace summer.

One fabric that is more commonly worn in this humid, rainy weather is linens. Not only can you wear longer pieces such as linen trousers that will keep you covered should it rain, the light breathable material will also keep you cool and comfortable.

We went to speak to shoppers in Manchester city centre to see what they've chosen to wear in this confusing weather as part of our series Steal Their Style.

It's a sustainable summer for 24-year-old Lucy Martin from Peterborough. Like many these days, Lucy's fit consists of pieces she's found from charity shops and pre-loved fashion websites like Depop and Vinted.
