The best and worst GP surgeries in Greater Manchester, according to patients

Every year the NHS surveys patients across the country about the care they receive from their GP surgery.

Data shows across the country, patients are becoming increasingly unhappy with the care provided by their GPs, with only half of patients saying it was easy to speak to someone at their practice on the phone.

The Manchester Evenings News has crunched the numbers to rank the best and worst GP surgeries in Greater Manchester according to patients’ views. You can use our gadget to see where yours ranks.

Only 34% of patients at Werneth Medical Practice in Oldham who completed the survey said that they felt their overall experience was good. That’s the lowest percentage of any GP surgery in our region.

Medlock Vale Medical Practice in Droylsden had the next lowest percentages at 35%. That’s followed by Droylsden Road Family Practice (36%), The Uplands Medical Practice (37%), Alexandra Group Medical Pract (39%), West End Medical Centre (39%), Croft Shifa Health Centre (39%), Kapur Family Care (40%), and Edenfield Road Surgery (42%).

Greater Manchester GP surgeries ranked very slightly higher than the national average, with 72% of patients giving their GP surgery an overall score of “good”. Nationally, the average was 71%.

Marple Bridge Surgery had the highest scores of any surgeries in our region, with 99% of patients saying their overall experience was good. That’s followed by Riddings Family Health Centre (98%), Milnrow Village Practice (98%), Hawkley Brook Medical Practice (98%), Village Surgery (96%), Pennine Surgery (96%), High Lane Medical Centre (96%), Mauldeth Medical Centre (96%), and Premier Health Team (96%).
