The 20 players returning to Manchester United this summer as loan spells end

Manchester United will welcome a lot of players back from loan spells this summer.

There are several different situations among the returning group - with some players up for sale, others who may head back out on loan and a handful who will be hoping to break into the first team.

As well as the 11 names in focus below, youngsters Charlie Savage, Will Fish, Ethan Galbraith, Ondrej Mastny, Charlie McNeill, Maxi Oyedele, Joe Hugill, Sonny Aljofree and Tom Wooster will be back at Old Trafford.

Dean Henderson

The shot-stopper is out injured for the rest of the season with a thigh injury. In total, he made 20 appearances for fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Matej Kovar

The 22-year-old has played 23 games for Czech First League giants Sparta Prague - who have their first Championship round clash against Bohemians 1905 on Sunday.

Di'Shon Bernard

Has turned out nine times for League One side Portsmouth, whom he joined in January. Bernard is under contract until 2026 at United but, at 22, his future is unlikely to involve featuring prominently for United's first team.

Axel Tuanzebe

Has been limited to four appearances in Stoke City colours and he will leave United when his contract expires this summer. United do have a one-year option, but a new deal for Tuanzebe would come as a surprise given his injury woes. Stoke boss Alex Neil has hinted that Stoke could pursue a move.

Ethan Laird

In a similar contract boat to Tuanzebe, but has time on his side. Laird has been back in the Championship this season and encountered a mixed loan spell with Queens Park Rangers.
