'That's humungous' - Sky Sports journalist buzzing over potential Spurs boost

Speaking to This Is Futbol, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge claimed Tottenham Hotspur should be happy with the form of Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele as it could help them financially.

Lo Celso and Ndombele were signed for £27.2m and a club-record £53.8m respectively but, after falling out of manager Antonio Conte’s plans, the former moved on loan to Villarreal, while the latter joined former club Lyon, also on a temporary basis.

Discussing the future of the two midfielders and Tottenham’s summer plans, Bridge said: “We want these players to do well, you know. Tottenham need to get money in this summer, although the Champions League, if they do get it, that’s humongous financially.”

Since returning to his previous outfit, Ndombele has retrieved some of his previous form. He has found the net once and provided two assists in ten outings, particularly impressing in the Europa League where, according to WhoScored, he has an average rating of 7.8. Pundit Clinton Morrison was shocked with his display against West Ham last week in the quarter-final first leg, questioning why he couldn’t put in such performances for Spurs.

Lo Celso, meanwhile, has featured 13 times for Unai Emery’s “Yellow Submarine”. Villarreal have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League after defeating Juventus and Bayern Munich over two legs, and Lo Celso started all four of those clashes.

As it stands, Tottenham are fourth in the Premier League table, three points ahead of fierce rivals Arsenal in fifth, albeit having played a game more.
