'That interest is 100% genuine' - Dean Jones reveals Spurs are in negotiations for wonderkid

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that although Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing youngster Mohamed-Ali Cho, the club feel he is ‘overvalued’, and are trying to get the price down before bringing him to north London.

It has been claimed that Angers ‘wonderkid’ Cho has been made available to leave his club this month, with Spurs offered the chance to sign him for €20m (£16.7m), as per Sky Sports News.

He is the second-youngest player of all time to sign a professional contract in France, with only Eduardo Camavinga to have signed at a younger age.

Jones was speaking on The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show about Spurs’ interest in him, stating that his price tag could become an issue.

He said: “That interest is 100% genuine, they really like the player and they are looking to do a deal there. From a Tottenham point of view, they feel he’s slightly overvalued, from what I’m told. Angers are looking for around €20m and I think they’re trying to negotiate around that and haggle it, see if they can figure something out.”

TIF Thoughts on Cho and links to Spurs…

You never know whether players will hit their potential or not when signed for a large fee at a young age. But Cho is no stranger to first-team football.

At just 18 years old, he has a lot of first-team games under his belt, featuring in 19 of Angers’ 22 Ligue 1 games this season, with 14 of those appearances being starts, as per Transfermarkt.

Should Spurs sign him, it is unknown whether he would be used for the first team or the academy, but he certainly carries plenty of promise considering how much experience he has been handed at his age.
