'Thank you' - Leeds United supporters' simple message to Kalvin Phillips as Man City move sealed

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips. Phillips underwent a medical on Friday after the two clubs reached an agreement over a deal worth in the region of £42 million seven days earlier.

The 26-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a six-year-deal at the Etihad Stadium and becomes Leeds’ highest ever sale, beating the previous club record set by Rio Ferdinand in 2002. Phillips departs Elland Road after making 234 appearances for his boyhood club and a Championship winners medal on his CV.

Leeds will now have a huge job on their hands replacing Phillips, who after Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival, has established himself as one of the club’s best players. Here is how Leeds supporters have reacted to his confirmed departure.

"Good luck to the lad! Made my peace with it. Only time will tell if we can turn it into a positive."

"Go well Kalvin. Thank you for everything."

"A huge part of our return to the Premier League, and now one of England's finest midfielders. Thank you, Kalvin."

"Good luck to Kalvin. One of my favourite players, but players move on. I don't begrudge him of the move, I'd have done the same in his shoes (not *those* shoes). I'm sure he'll be back."

"Thank you Kalvin. Stayed with us when most would have jumped. You deserve this move and I wish you every success (just not when we play City). Always Leeds at heart."

"Good luck Kalvin! Gave us everything and more we could ever ask. Now go win some trophies and hope to see you in the UCL in a few years."

"Best of luck Kalvin thank you for all the great memories, you truly will never be forgotten. Make sure you win some trophies and get paid well, enjoy European footy too, you definitely deserve it."

"Best of
