While the United States liberally sells weapons of war over the counter, Ukraine is pleading for all the military hardware it can get. As the world marked 90 days of war, it was the week when the eastern city of Severodonetsk emerged as the new Mariupol. Surrounded on three sides, Ukrainian forces now endure a pounding while Russian forces shell the country's second city of Kharkiv at a distance.

Throughout the war, the European Union has maintained a united front. But ahead of next Monday's EU summit, it has now got a holdout. Viktor Orban's Hungary, which gets its oil by pipeline from Russia, is so far refusing to sign off on an embargo. Some of that oil transits through Ukraine, which has got Kyiv issuing veiled threats.

The latter recently concluded a new cooperation pact with Beijing.

"Only yes means yes" is the name of the bill adopted on Thursday by Spain's parliament. The measure to qualify non-consensual sex as rape is the direct follow-up to the 2016 case of five men convicted during Pamplona's running of the bulls. They were found guilty of sexual abuse but not rape, because their victim was too frozen with fear to say "no".
