Texas QB Quinn Ewers set to miss 4-6 weeks after MRI shows SC sprain, sources say

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to be out four to six weeks after injuring his shoulder Saturday against No. 1 Alabama, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Sources said Ewers has been diagnosed with an SC sprain, a significant injury to where the sternum meets the clavicle. Ewers, who is experiencing significant pain, had an MRI on Saturday that confirmed the diagnosis.

The earliest that Ewers could return is against Oklahoma on Oct. 8.

The freshman quarterback was taken to the locker room Saturday after he was driven into the ground by the Crimson Tide's Dallas Turner late in the first quarter. He later returned to the sideline during the second half, wearing street clothes.

Hudson Card, a sophomore, went 14-of-22 for 158 yards after taking over for Ewers while nearly leading the Longhorns to an upset of the top-ranked Crimson Tide, who won 20-19 on a field goal in the final minute.
