Tesco shoppers divided as supermarket starts selling festive favourite months before Christmas

Tesco has left shoppers divided after a store was seen selling a pile of popular 'Christmas' products in August.

One confused customer was in her local branch on Thursday (August 4) when she spotted stacks of tubs of Celebrations, Heroes and Quality Street. Sharing a photo of her find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook Group, the shopper said: "What’s the first sign of Christmas in the shops? Sweet tubs!

"Thought that the tubs of sweets were never out so early. Usually after Halloween but not at the beginning of August!" With these chocolates typically only sold around Christmas time, the display at the front of the Tesco store in Hove store left many other people confused - with some even feeling angry.

One commenter said: "By Christmas, we're all sick of it! Never used to be like this when I was growing up!" Another added: "I refuse to go into any shop that has Christmas things before November!"

Others said: "Oh ffs! Eff it off until December" and "No way!!!! FFS." But some defended Tesco's decision - suggesting it would make life easier for those trying to deal with the cost of living squeeze.

One said: "People need to spread the cost of Christmas. This year especially. Every little helps!"

Tesco sells Heroes, Celebrations and Quality Street chocolates on Clubcard prices at different times of the year. The supermarlet confirmed the treats are being sold in store and online from Wednesday (August 10).
