Tesco flooded with complaints as it rolls out storewide change that affects all shoppers

Earlier this week, supermarket giant Tesco announced a change to all supermarkets that affects anyone with a Clubcard. While some have opened the Tesco updates with open arms, others have taken to social media to complain about it.

Tesco has made a change to its meal deal option so shoppers can choose from more 'luxurious' items from brands like Yo! Sushi and Itsu. But with more premium products comes a more premium price tag.

The new meal deal is now available 1,200 Tesco stores, the new meal deal sits alongside the supermarket’s existing £3.40 meal deal but will offer customers the option of a "premium" main, snack and drink.

With the new additions, Tesco now says there are a possible four million different combinations shoppers can choose from when buying a meal deal. Some shoppers have also noted that you can get a hot Costa coffee as part of the deal, and by doing so people are saving money by combining their morning caffeine hit with their lunch.

But despite the Tesco Meal Deal's perks, some shoppers have been left rattled by the changes. Social media has been flooded with complaints about the price of the new £5 meal deal - even for those with a Clubcard.

Posting on Facebook, Nicky Grimstead said: "Tesco meal deal £5.50 £5.00 with Clubcard. That price has creeped up a bit hasn't it."

Bernie Parkinson slammed: "Meal Deal - Lucozade 500 ml £1.69 Lucozade in soft drinks section 900ml £1.39 ??? That’s what I call No Deal." Gareth Thomas said: "Ouch that’s a lot. Is that just their London pricing. I know they have gone up to 3.60 here but £5 is quite a leap just because it’s London."
