Terrifying moment HUGE knife lunged at man in Manchester city centre

This is the terrifying moment a huge knife was lunged at a man after a fight broke out in broad daylight in Manchester city centre.

The clip, which was captured outside the Arndale centre near Exchange Square, appeared to show two men arguing in the street as bystanders watched on and people walked by. One man then appeared to pull out a huge blade, which he then thrust towards the other man in a slashing motion.

Onlookers could be heard shouting as the man waved the weapon in the air. Greater Manchester Police said last night that officers were called to reports of a fight between two men on Corporation Street, close to Exchange Square, at around 6.15pm.

They said one man was armed with a large knife. One man sustained minor injuries.

Last night, police said no arrests had been made. The force said it was a 'targeted attack' with no threat to the wider public.

Pictures showed multiple police vehicles parked up beside the tram stop in Exchange Square. Eyewitnesses told the Manchester Evening News that officers were also spotted circling the nearby Printworks.

Following the incident, Inspector Richard Flanagan of GMP Central division said: "This happened in a busy part of Manchester city centre in broad daylight. People will have been walking past, or commuting on the Metrolink, and I urge anyone who might have witnessed this incident to please come forward and share any information or CCTV or mobile footage with police.

"No matter how small you think the information may be, it could prove vital to the investigation. I understand there was a large police presence in the city centre in response to this incident, but I’d like to reassure the public
