Ten years on 'aggressive' cowboy roofers strike again swindling people out of life savings

A father and son with a history of ripping people off were involved in a cowboy roofing operation that swindled homeowners in Greater Manchester out of thousands of pounds.

Steven Lee Jnr, 38, and business associate Eli Young raked in over £175,000 by "grossly overcharging", and carrying out "unnecessary' work" it is claimed.

They also left roofs in an "exposed and dangerous state" and would even resort to "acting aggressively" to obtain money from their victims, a Greater Manchester council has said. Lee's father, Steven Lee Jnr, was also said to have been involved in the operation.

The Lees have previous convictions after conning pensioners out of thousands of pounds. Three of their latest victims lived in Stockport with Stockport Council Trading Standards' department an enquiry.

This ran alongside probes from Halton Borough Council Trading Standards Service and Lancashire Police. In total eight cases were brought before the courts. They are said to have parted with 'life savings' totalling £176,600.

Lee Junior and Young, who carried out the work under the company name, Dedicated Roofing Solutions and Elite Roofing Solutions, and Lee Snr were all prosecuted.

Lee Junior, of Rosemary Lane, Bartle, Preston, pleaded guilty to eight offences of fraud by false misrepresentation. Young, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation for his involvement in the roofing business. The pair will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court next week.

Steven Lee Senior, of the same address as his son, pleaded guilty to running a fraudulent business, in the name of Drysky Property Maintenance. He died, aged 60, in October
