Ten-men Juve drop points again in goalless home draw against Genoa
TURIN, Italy : Juventus lost further ground in the Serie A title race when they were held to a 0-0 home draw by Genoa on Sunday after striker Dusan Vlahovic was sent off in added time, leaving the Turin side with just one win in eight games.
The result leaves Juve 16 points behind runaway leaders Inter Milan and level with second-placed AC Milan, with both sides playing later on Sunday. Genoa stay in 12th place.
The visitors came closest to scoring in the first half when defender Mattia Bani rose to meet Albert Guomundsson's cross with a header, only for Wojciech Szczesny to make a brilliant save.
Federico Gatti then struck in the 27th minute with a right-footed low shot from 25 yards, but the ball landed in the safe hands of Josep Martinez.
Juve returned with much more urgency after the interval, with substitute Samuel Iling-Junior nearly scoring from the edge of the box but he hit the woodwork.
Juve's biggest chance came in the 75th minute from Vlahovic, who had returned from suspension, but he headed the ball just over the crossbar. Vlahovic picked up a yellow card in added time and then got a second booking for dissent.
