Teenager dies in horror New Year's Day crash after car 'loses control and hits building'

A 19 year-old man has died after a horror New Year's Day crash in which a car 'lost control' and hit a building, police have sadly revealed. The teenager, who hasn't been named, was a passenger in the vehicle - and two others inside were also taken to hospital injured.

Police said the car was being driven towards the Spotland area of Rochdale at around 7.20pm on Monday night when the driver lost control, causing it to collide with a building.

The car, which hasn't been further described by officers, had earlier overtaken a 'slower moving vehicle', Greater Manchester Police said today.

The 19-year-old man died in hospital in the early hours of today, Tuesday, a spokesman for the force confirmed. Police have now issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

The road was closed for a number of hours last night for accident investigation work.
