Teenager arrested after disturbance at League of Ireland match
Gardaí are investigating an incident at a League of Ireland match in Longford last night, after which a teenage boy was arrested.
Authorities were called to Bishopsgate Stadium outside Longford town at around 9pm, after they were alerted to a disturbance involving a small group of supporters inside the ground.
The boy, who is in his late teens, was arrested under the Public Order Act.
Longford Town were playing Bray Wanderers in the League of Ireland First Division.
The disturbance was brought under control by gardaí and Longford Town FC stewards.
A number of those involved were identified and removed from the grounds.
There were no reports of any serious injuries. However it is understood some of the stewards received minor injuries.
Gardaí say all of the circumstances of the incident are under investigation and inquires are ongoing.
