Team Hagi reacts to Rangers status head on as prophetic Gheorghe insists 'not everything is honey'

Ianis Hagi has been told to keep his head up at Rangers by dad Gheorghe - despite his lack of top team minutes.

The Light Blues star was an unused substitute as Philippe Clement's men laboured to a 1-0 home win over Hearts at Ibrox. Since making his first team return against St Johnstone after the club and player came to an agreement, he has played just 14 minutes as a sub at Aberdeen after also serving a ban after his sending off against the Saints.

His last start for the Ibrox side came back in May 2023 against St Mirren in a 3-0 win after he spent a season on loan at La Liga at Alaves before being frozen out of the first-team picture on his return to the club. Clement has since recalled Hagi from his exile, but has chosen to look elsewhere in the squad than turn to the Romania international. He's also not part of the Europa League squad at this stage as his team-mates look to reach the next stage - where he could then be added to the pool.

But Hagi senior is calm about his situation at Ibrox and insists his son knows how to overcome difficulties. He believes it will make him a better and stronger as he urged him to remain calm.

He said: "I told Ianis, everything that happens in life is to make you better. Not everything is honey, sometimes there is also salt.

"It will make him stronger and better. I am calm about the situation at Rangers. Ianis knows how to overcome difficulties, he is a strong person."
