Teacher told underage pupil 'no one better find out' before having sex with him, court told

A teacher told a pupil 'no one better find out', before having sex with him at her flat, a jury has heard.

Rebecca Joynes, 30, is on trial accused of six counts of having sexual activity with a child. The allegations, which she denies, concern two teenage boys she met through her job as a teacher at a Greater Manchester school.

Jurors at Manchester Crown Court have previously heard that Ms Joynes allegedly groomed one pupil with a Trafford Centre shopping trip, before having sex with him, and then fell pregnant by another teenage pupil.

This afternoon (Wednesday), jurors were shown video footage of an interview the first boy - known as Boy A - gave to police. He told officers that after being picked up by Ms Joynes, she drove him to the Trafford Centre and took him to the Selfridges store.

He said he was unsure why they had gone to the shop and asked Ms Joynes: "Why are we actually here because I'm not going to get anything? I hope you're looking for yourself."

The boy alleged that Ms Joynes replied: "We came here for you." He said he then picked up a £350 Gucci belt, which she then paid for.

"I remember saying I don't know why you have done that," Boy A added. "It's a lot of money really."

After leaving the shop, the boy said Ms Joynes drove him to her flat in Salford Quays. While climbing the stairs, he said he felt 'a bit weird' about what was happening. But once inside, he said he took a seat on the couch where he was later joined by Ms Joynes.

They then went into her bedroom and started kissing before undressing and began having sex with each other, he added. Mr Joynes repeatedly told the boy 'no one better find out', he told officers.
