Tatith Chong's return to Birmingham unlikely as Lyle Taylor's stumbling block emerges

Here’s the latest Birmingham City transfer news as attention starts to turn to what could be an exciting summer window for Lee Bowyer’s side.

Tahith Chong's return to Birmingham City next season could be a difficult one according to manager Lee Bowyer.

The Manchester United loanee was having a great season for the Blues before injury halted his season twice. The winger is set to return in the final game of the season to make his 20th appearance of the season before returning to Old Trafford where he will look to impress new manager Erik ten Hag.

Though Bowyer has not ruled out a return, he knows that his side won't be the only team in for his talents next season.

“If it doesn’t work out for him then what I do know is that if he does then go on loan I know he has loved it here, he has loved working with us, he has improved. Do I think he would like to come back? I would like to think so yeah. The problem is there might be others that will want to take him that might offer something a bit different to us.”

Lyle Taylor looks out of Birmingham's reach due to wages.

The Nottingham Forrest striker has impressed while on loan with the Blues and has found the back of the net five times in 13 games. However, following the last game of the season against Blackburn Rovers, Taylor is set to return to his parent club and a permanent deal is set to be out of the question.

The 32-year-old's wages is to much for Bowyer's side according to The Athletic who will be left with Scott Hogan, Troy Deeney and Lukas Jutkiewicz heading into next season.
